How it works

What microneedling does

Very fine needles create thousands of tiny, controlled channels in the skin. Your skin heals them the way it always heals: by making fresh collagen and elastin. Over the following weeks, texture, firmness and evenness gradually improve. Nothing is added to create the result; your own healing does the work.

Botanica Beauty patients treated with microneedling with PRP, photographed and published with written consent. Individual results vary.

The addition

Adding PRP or PRF

PRP is an addition to microneedling, not a separate treatment. We draw a small amount of your blood, much like a routine blood test, and spin it to separate the platelet-rich plasma, the part carrying growth factors involved in healing. It is applied to your skin during microneedling so it can reach the tiny channels.

PRF is a close relative, spun more gently and without an anticoagulant, so it releases growth factors more slowly. We decide which suits you at your consultation.

Concerns

What we treat

Acne scarring

One of the most common reasons people choose microneedling, and one of the areas it helps most. Rolling and boxcar scars often soften as new collagen forms beneath them; deep "ice pick" scars respond more slowly. Honestly: microneedling improves scarring, it does not erase it. Most people see scars become softer and less visible over a series, and the improvement keeps building for months.

Texture and pores

Rough texture and pores that look enlarged often improve as skin firms and renews.

Fine lines

Fine lines around the eyes and cheeks can soften. For lines caused by movement, a wrinkle relaxer may be the better tool.

Tone

Dullness and some post-acne marks can even out. Pigmentation such as melasma needs a more careful approach, so we assess yours first.

Honest fit

Is it right for your skin

Microneedling suits many skin types and tones. It uses no heat or light, so it carries a lower risk of pigment changes than many lasers, though darker skin can still darken temporarily; we adjust depth and aftercare accordingly.

We wait if you have an active breakout, infection or cold sore in the area, have taken isotretinoin in the past six months, are pregnant, or form raised or keloid scars. PRP is not suitable with some blood or clotting conditions. We review your history privately at consultation.

On the day

Your appointment

  1. Skin check and goals.
  2. Numbing cream, about 30–45 minutes.
  3. A small blood draw, if you are having PRP or PRF.
  4. Microneedling, about 30 minutes for the face. It feels like light scratching or vibration.
  5. PRP applied during and after.
  6. Clear aftercare to take home.

Recovery

Downtime and aftercare

  1. First 24 hours

pink or red like a mild sunburn. Keep skin clean and bare: no makeup, sweating or swimming.

  2. Days 2–3

redness fades; skin may feel tight or flake lightly. Mineral makeup is usually fine.

  3. First week

no retinoids, exfoliating acids or direct sun. Sunscreen daily.

A series

How many sessions

General texture and fine linesoften 3 sessions, 4–6 weeks apart.
Acne scarringoften 4–6 or more, 4–6 weeks apart.
Maintenanceone session every few months.

We give you a realistic estimate, not a number designed to sound appealing.

Results timeline

Skin often looks fresher within a week or two. The real change comes later: collagen keeps forming for about three months after each session, so the fullest result usually shows a few months after your final session.

We would rather undertreat you twice than overtreat you once.

Questions

Microneedling and PRP, answered

Call (425) 543-6060

How many microneedling sessions do I need for acne scars?

Most people need four to six or more, about four to six weeks apart, depending on the type and depth of scarring. Improvement builds gradually and continues for months after the last session.

What is the difference between PRP and PRF?

Both come from a small sample of your blood. PRP is spun to concentrate platelets and growth factors. PRF is spun more gently and without an anticoagulant, so it releases growth factors more slowly.

Does microneedling hurt?

Most people find it very manageable. Numbing cream goes on first, and it feels like light scratching or vibration. The forehead and around the mouth can feel a little more sensitive.

How much downtime is there?

Usually two to three days. Skin looks pink or red for 24 to 72 hours and may feel tight or flake slightly. Most people return to work the next day or the day after.

How much does microneedling cost in Bellevue?

Microneedling is $395 per session. Adding PRP increases the cost, and we confirm the exact price when you book. Because results come from a series, we talk through your total first.

Is microneedling with PRP better than microneedling alone?

Not always. PRP supports healing and is often chosen for acne scarring, but microneedling alone works well for many concerns. We will tell you whether PRP is worth adding for you.

When will I see results?

Skin may look fresher within one to two weeks. The main improvement builds over the following months as collagen forms, usually showing fully a few months after your final session.

Is microneedling safe for all skin tones?

It suits many skin tones and carries a lower risk of pigment changes than many lasers because it uses no heat or light. Darker skin can still darken temporarily, so we adjust depth and aftercare.

How is this different from Morpheus8?

Microneedling creates tiny channels to stimulate collagen. Morpheus8 adds radiofrequency energy deeper beneath the surface and is chosen for firmness and laxity, with more downtime.

Can I wear makeup afterwards?

Wait 24 hours while the tiny channels close. After that, mineral makeup is usually fine. Keep up daily sunscreen and skip retinoids for about a week.
